Solar de Randez (Rioja Alavesa, Spain) is a small, family-run estate, working with old-vine plots (some approaching 80 years) on calcareous-clay soils. The team focuses on modest yields, organic and low-intervention viticulture, native-yeast ferments, and careful oak ageing when appointed, aiming for honest, terroir-driven whites that challenge convention in Rioja. 100% Viura from old bush-vines, fermented with native yeasts and barrel-aged (6 months in new French oak on fine lees) before bottling. Pale straw-gold with delicate sheen. On the nose: ripe stone fruit and pineapple, with citrus peel and a subtle toasted-oak, creamy overlay. The palate is broad and rounded: white peach, green apple and a lick of salinity over a gently textured oak backbone, finishing fresh yet layered. A Rioja white that balances richness and freshness, ideal with grilled fish, shellfish or creamy vegetarian dishes.
